  • Assistant Gardener for Annual Garden: Assists coordinator of annual garden to grow and evaluate approximately 1100+ varieties of annual flowers for research. Duties during fall involve maintaining garden (weeding, removal of spent blooms) data collection and entry plus miscellaneous projects during winter months. After hard freeze old plants will be removed and composted. Requires some physical stamina and ability to work outside in cooler/cold weather.   • Office Assistant: This is an academic year student hourly position. Individual will assist with a variety of administrative functions including data entry, typing, assisting with correspondence, creating reports, preparing packets for mailing, copying, updating files, and other projects as necessary. This position requires strong attention to detail and accuracy, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize assignments and meet deadlines. Knowledge of MS Office programs: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Previous office experience preferred. Pay rate: $9.51/hour. Requires 10-15 hours per week between 8am-7pm, M-F.   • Assistant Gardener for Perennial Garden: Duties include planting and maintenance (division, weeding, deadheading, etc.). After hard frost, plants will be cut back and taken to compost pile. Time requirements are 10-13 hours/week during the academic year. Requires some physical stamina and ability to work outside during cool/cold weather (will have indoor projects for rain or snow). Prefer someone who has had H-322 Herbaceous Plants but would encourage anybody who is interested to complete a short application form in Shepardson Room 111.   • We are seeking a "Greenhouse Intern" for our greenhouses on campus. Qualified applicants must be eligible for work-study and would preferably be a freshman or sophomore in the Plant Sciences area. Responsibilities include basic greenhouse duties and may include weekend watering and lifting up to 60 lbs. and possible work with pesticides. Starting wage is $9.00/hr.
